Vice President – New York Market Manager

Position Summary:

Reporting to the EVP, Chief Operating Officer, the Market Manager is a senior leader for the New York market.  The Market Manager serves as the face of the organization and will be responsible for directly and indirectly developing the funding and capital sources that provide the basis for TruFund’s full spectrum of products including lending, business advisory services, grant management, disaster recovery, New Market Tax Credits, TruCapital Impact Equity Fund, etc. The Market Manager develops capital resources by establishing deep relationships with local and state governments, funder/investment partners, non-profit/CDFI collaborators and other sources of capital for TruFund. Additionally, this role will be responsible for establishing a comprehensive, regional plan that leverages the leader’s deep knowledge of the New York marketplace.

In collaboration with partner senior leaders in Lending, Underwriting, Development, TruCapital, and New Market Tax Credits, the Market Manager will develop the highest and best combination of products and services to provide in the NY market. The Market Manager will also drive the delivery of critical programs (e.g. business advisory, technical assistance) in the market to ensure clients are ready to take advantage of the organization’s supporting products and services.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Relationship Management: Maintain a portfolio of relationships to ensure TruFund is recognized as the go-to CDFI among funders, investors and underserved communities. Create partnerships with other financial services providers; consultants; equity providers; local government agencies and public officials; technical assistance providers; and other stakeholders involved in Community Development work. Ensure cross-organizational collaboration on senior management team to deliver product and programs with impact greater than the sum of its parts
  • Market Plan Development: Develop a market coverage plan for the region. Understands how to present TruFund’s products in such a way as to attract investment opportunities in the marketplace; in addition, understands other offerings in the marketplace and contributes findings such that Trufund’s approach is effective and competitive within the context of the market. Lead strategic growth by guiding the identification and implementation of new capital accumulation strategies, offerings and initiatives that respond to community needs, compliment TruFund’s existing programs and products, and have clear metrics for success
  • Environmental Expertise: Anticipate and incorporate emerging market trends, regional developments and the evolving community needs into organizational planning. Develop, when appropriate, scalable programming to support donor requests and community needs
  • External Face of TruFund: Meet with key leaders and influencers in local market. Represent TruFund’s full breadth of expertise to marketplace. Present at, and organize meetings, conferences, programs and knowledge-sharing events for diverse stakeholders.

 

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • 10+ years prior experience in economic and/or community development
  • 10+ years’ creating and executing against comprehensive operating plans
  • 8+ years of team leadership or management experience
  • Extensive professional network across public, private and non-profit space
  • Authentic passion for TruFund’s mission
  • Ability to produce measurable, meaningful and on-mission results
  • Keen business/commercial mindset, with ability to drive outsized, on-mission performance
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local government funding sources for capital and operating grants
  • Capability to excel in collaborating with centers of excellence
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond flexibly to changing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge/experience with small business finance and advisory strongly preferred
  • Knowledge/experience of working in a CDFI or bank, with an understanding of lending and or investment process, preferred
  • Comfort in interacting with diverse audiences
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s degree
