NEW YORK, March 24, 2023 – TruFund Financial Services (TruFund) is proud to announce and welcome, Kamesha “Kay” West as Vice President and Texas Market Manager. Kay will oversee the Texas operations and support initiatives in North Louisiana. Kay is excited to lead TruFund’s mission “to help historically disadvantaged individuals and communities create thriving and resilient small businesses and entrepreneurial ecosystems in order to close racial and economic disparities and ensure an inclusive and equitable society.”
Kay recently graduated from the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute and completed a yearlong Executive Fellowship with the City of Fort Worth’s Economic Development Department and FUSE Corps. Kay comes to TruFund with over 15 years of leadership, operations, project management experience. Kay has an additional 5 years of consulting experience and 8 years of BRE on the Board of Directors for several organizations, Championing Economic Development Issues.
Kay is extremely passionate about economic mobility, economic inclusion, and community development. Her contributions to fundraising, leadership, and community service earned her recognition as the 2022 Outstanding Fundraiser by the Shreveport Association of Fundraising Professionals. Kay graduated as a Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program Alum in 2021 and received honors as a 2018 Whitney M. Young Recipient. She is a 2016 40 Under 40 Honoree, received the Top Up & Coming Business Professional award in 2015, and was granted the Nextgen Leader award in 2010 from the W.K Kellog Foundation and Nonprofit Leadership Alliance.
Kay is credentialed as a Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) through Nonprofit Leadership Alliance and serves as a Certified PeerSpectives Facilitator through the Edward Lowe Foundation. Kay received a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations from Louisiana State University Shreveport and an Associate’s of Applied Science Degree in Telecommunications from Bossier Parish Community College.
