TruFund Financial Services, Inc. Launches Women In Business: An EmpowHERment Program In Partnership With Regions Bank In Louisiana

November 9, 2017 - New Orleans, LA – TruFund Financial Services, Inc. recently celebrated National Women’s Small Business Month by recognizing the hard work of local small businesses, especially those women-led businesses by launching TruFund’s Women In Business:  An EmpowHERment Program in partnership with Regions Bank.   Through this program, female entrepreneurs have had the opportunity to receive valuable information and training to grow their businesses.

“With the support of Regions Bank, we celebrated the women that have worked tirelessly to start and grow their small businesses,” said Myla R. Poree, Vice President & Managing Director Louisiana Market “We were able to do meaningful work and have a great impact on the lives and businesses of the women who participated.”

In the United States, more than 9.4 million firms are owned by women, employing nearly 7.9 million people, and generating $1.5 trillion in sales.   Women-owned firms (51% or more ownership) account for 38% of all privately held firms and contribute 14% of employment and 12% of revenues as of last year, according to American Express’ 2016 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report.

National Women’s Small Business Month (NWSBM) has encouraged the support of local small businesses; especially those female owned and led.  In Louisiana, the program was presented during NWSBM with the culminating event taking place October 26, 2017.

“Women are contributing to the economy in a big way,” said Mike Scott, Senior Vice President – Regional Community Affairs Manager. “We welcome the opportunity to join forces to provide programing necessary for women entrepreneurs to continue to grow and scale their businesses.”

TruFund Financial and Regions Bank hope to host additional cohorts of training providing assistance to many more women owned businesses in the State of Louisiana.

“Great things happen when organizations are able to come together in support of meaningful work.  The work of supporting women in business is of the utmost importance given that entrepreneurship among women is on the rise.” said LaShaunda P. René, Manager of Business Services and Program Development for TruFund Financial Services, Inc.
